Interventional modalities

Depending on your pain condition your pain physician can offer a variety of injections and procedures.

Common injections target various joints (hip, knee, shoulder and sacroiliac) and the spine. For the spine, common procedures are injections of the spine joints called facets and blocking of the tiny nerves that go to these joints. If you have pain going to arms or legs epidural steroid injections might be offered.

Ideally, the interventional modalities should offer benefit for months to years. During the benefit from interventional modalities you should still work to improve function and develop strategies for long term benefit through other means: e.g physical therapy and lifestyle changes.
